Types of Tonneau Covers

Tonneau covers have gained popularity over the years, and it has now become a necessity for many truck drivers. Besides the classy element that it adds to the appearance of your truck, they also help in increasing the security of your supplies, organization of equipment,and increases the number of miles you get per gallon of gas. Furthermore, the truck bed covers come in different shapes and designs, which gives you the freedom to choose one that better suits your vehicle.   1. Roll- Up Tonneau Cover

The roll-up tonneau cover is made from a soft, pliable material such as vinyl which is easily attachable to the truck. A roll-up tonneau cover rolls into itself up to the bulkhead. It does not come with a preset fold meaning that you can roll it up however you want.  This type of cover gives you partial access to whatever it is that you are carrying on your truck bed. Additionally, the fact that you can roll it up also allows you to haul taller cargo. Most of the roll-up tonneau covers are durable and waterproof as they come with a vinyl coating on both sides.

  1. Folding Tonneau Cover

Folding tonneau covers are among the most popular designs in the market today. Unlike the roll-up tonneau covers that don’t have a preset fold, the folding tonneau covers have a preset fold. Some of the covers can be folded into two parts while others like the tri-fold cover fold into three sections. There are even others that fold into more than three sections; the choice entirely lies with you. With this type of truck bed cover, you can access a part of the truck bed without necessarily having to expose the other parts. Additionally, you can haul large cargo as you can easily fold it up.

  1. Retractable Tonneau Covers

These covers are versatile and stylish. They are available in both hard and soft materials, and it retracts itself at the bulkhead of the truck. Retractable covers are easy to install and also allow you to expose the cargo that you only require while the other part of the truck bed remains closed. With this type of cover, you can carry oversize cargo or awkwardly shaped supplies.

  1. Hinged Tonneau Cover

If you are a truck owner who does not haul large cargo, then this is the right cover for you. A hinged tonneau cover is hinged at the bulkhead of the truck. It does not roll up or fold but is instead locked in an open position. The downside of this type of cover is that you cannot carry oversized cargo and also, you can’t remove it when you need full access to your truck bed.
